Before starting your application for elective courses, please consider ITD's recommendations:

  1. The internet browser should be cleared of cookies;
  2. Chrome browser is preferred;
  3. Do not repeatedly press F5 or any other tool providing the refresh function during login;
  4. You should not connect from several devices (computer, phone, tablet) with one login/password at the same time, this does not speed up the process, but will load the system.

By clicking on the tile "Applications & Inquiries" on the MyRSU or using the link https://services.rsu.lv/en you will be directed to the list of e-services that includes the option of applying for restricted elective and/or elective study courses (Screenshot No.1).
Screenshot No.1

Click on the link opens the service start form. The form is personalized and contains the student's name surname and student ID in the upper section (Screenshot No.2.1). The next section shows whether the particular student is expected to take the restricted elective (B) and elective (C) courses in the given semester, as well as the amount of credit points (CP)(Screenshot No.2.2.).

The yellow box (Screenshot No.3) in the following field contains information about the plan of the student's study programme for the given semester, the status of the student or other useful data.

The next section of the form shows a button (Screenshot No.4.1) that opens a list of study courses that are available to the particular student. If the student has not made a choice, the yellow field shall show the information (Screenshot No.4.2).

Explanations for terms and symbols used in the e-service are found at the bottom of the form (Screenshot No.5).

Few days in advance, students shall be informed (individual e-mails to the e-mail addresses assigned by RSU, information on the student portal MyRSU, news on the information monitors available at the university premises) when the application for elective study courses will be opened. An appropriate notification will appear on the e-service form (Screenshot No.6).
Screenshot No.6

It will also be possible to get acquainted with the study courses offered in the e-service (Screenshot No.7). At the end of the title of each study course there is an icon that you can click to view the study course description (Screenshot No.7.1). Each study course shows additional information about the language of the study course, the number of CP, etc. (Screenshot No.7.2) and the number of places planned (Screenshot No.7.3).
Registration for study courses is not possible at that time.

When application for elective study courses is announced, the following information is displayed on the e-service form (Screenshot No.8).
Screenshot No.8.

When you click on the "+ Add Courses" button, a list of available study courses opens, at the top of which a detailed selection is possible (Screenshot No.9). The detailed selection is an extra, it is not a must. The list of study courses displayed has already been created according to the student's programme.
If you are interested in a particular study course, you can quickly find it in the search option by any name of the title of the study course or the code of the study course (Screenshot No.9.1). If the student's study programme provides for and/or offers study courses in both Latvian and English, it is possible to select study courses according to the language of their implementation here (Screenshot No.9.2). If the application for both restricted (B) and elective (C) study courses is opened at the same time, the selection by the block of study courses may be made here (Screenshot No.9.3). If the student's study programme provides for the choice of several elective study courses and the offer is extensive, it is possible to select only the available study courses (in which there are still vacancies). If there is a desire to review the chosen study courses, this can be done by making an appropriate note (Screenshot No.9.4).
Screenshot No.9

In the extended selection (Screenshot No.10.1), additional criteria are available - the place of implementation of the study course (important in case of C courses, when the student has to pay attention to the timetable of lectures/classes) (Screenshot No.10.2), the course leader (Screenshot No.10.3), the type of examination (Screenshot No.10.4).

Below the selection criteria there is a list of available study courses (Screenshot No.11). For each study course, you can see how many vacancies are still available for that particular study course (Screenshot No.11.1). To apply for a specific course, click the "Register" button (Screenshot No.11.2).
Screenshot No.11

When registration for elective (C) study courses is open, attention should be paid to additional information for each study course offered (Screenshot No.12).
The time when the study course will be implemented is indicated for each study course (Screenshot No. 12.1). The student needs to select the day that suits him/her and make a note in the appropriate field (Screenshot No. 12.2). If classes are held on one day only (Screenshot No. 12.3), no additional notes are required. If no specific day and time is indicated at the times (Figure 12.4), this will be further specified, but it will certainly be implemented at the scheduled time for C courses - on Tuesdays and Thursdays, starting at 15:00.
Screenshot No.12

If it is not possible to apply for the course, information that there are no vacancies and the group is complete will be displayed (Screenshot No.13.1). In this case, the registration button will be inactive (Screenshot No.13.2).
Screenshot No.13

Before finishing the registration, it should be checked whether the total number of credit points of the study courses required according to the study plan corresponds to the total number of credit points of the chosen study courses. If the amount of credit points of the selected study courses is less than the required amount, the registration should be continued. The choice of study courses is limited to the required amount of credit points. You cannot apply for additional study courses.
To finish the registration, click the "Finish Registration for Study Courses" button (Screenshot No.14).
Screenshot No.14

The selected study courses are then displayed in the start view of the e-service form (Screenshot No.15).
Screenshot No.15

As long as there is open registration for elective study courses, students have the right to change their choice. To opt out of the selected course, click on the icon for it (Screenshot No.16.1).
Screenshot No.16

The distribution between the required and chosen credit points changes accordingly and there is the possibility of registering for other elective courses.
If the number of credit points needed and selected corresponds, no further choice will be possible.
Even after the registration is closed, the student can see their selected study courses and their statuses in the e-service (Screenshot No.17).
